Hybrid dye developing with a green hue on brow before full oxidation

Why Does Hybrid Dye Sometimes Turn Green? And How to Fix It

Ever noticed your Hybrid Dye developing with a green hue?

Don’t panic it’s more common than you think, and in most cases, totally normal.

Here's why it happens and what to do about it.

Why It Happens

Hybrid Dye contains pigments that oxidise during the development process. Some shades, especially cool-toned browns, may briefly appear green or greyish as the colour activates.

This is usually:

  • A normal part of the chemical process

  • Most visible on porous skin or brows with cool undertones

When It's Normal vs. When It’s Not

Totally Normal If:

  • You’re using cool shades like Taupe or Graphite

  • It fades out by the end of the processing time

  • The final result is as expected once removed

Cause for Concern If:

  • The green tinge is still there after removal

  • The stain is patchy or the colour result is off

  • You're mixing incorrectly or using incompatible Developer

How to Prevent It

🧡 Pro Tip from Leigh:

If in doubt, always do a small area test, especially when using cool shades on very warm or porous skin types.
