How to Price Your Salon Treatments for Profit – Not Just Popularity

How to Price Your Salon Treatments for Profit – Not Just Popularity

One of the biggest mistakes salon owners make is pricing their treatments based on what others are charging, rather than what makes their own business profitable. While competitive pricing can be important, chasing popularity can quickly lead to burnout and undercharging.

At London Brow Pro, we’re all about building sustainable, successful beauty businesses. So let's break down how to price your salon treatments confidently – and profitably.

Know Your Costs (Yes, All of Them!)

Start by calculating your cost-per-treatment. This includes:

  • Product cost per treatment (e.g., how much tint, wax, or lamination product you use)

  • Disposable tools or PPE used

  • Staff wages or your time (set an hourly rate for yourself!)

  • Rent, utilities, and insurance (divided across your weekly/monthly client load)

  • Booking system or software fees

Mini Example: If a brow lamination uses £2 in product, £4 in time, and £1.50 in disposables = £7.50 baseline cost.

Set Your Profit Margin

Once you know your treatment cost, add your desired profit margin. A healthy starting point is 60-70% markup, especially for treatments with time and expertise involved.

Example: Cost per treatment: £7.50
Desired profit: 70% markup
Suggested price: £7.50 x 1.7 = £12.75 (rounded up to £13 or £15)

Factor in Perceived Value

Price isn’t just about maths – it’s also about perception. If your services are luxury, bespoke, or come with a unique client experience, your pricing should reflect that.

Ask yourself:

  • What makes my salon stand out?

  • Do I offer premium products (like our London Brow Professional Range)?

  • What is the result or transformation worth to my client?

Clients are happy to pay more when they see more value.
